Danger Boat & Ira Byock

About Danger Boat

Danger Boat Productions is a storytelling organization at its core. What sets them apart is the way we bring those stories to life—not just through narrative, but through interaction, spontaneity, and humor. They use the art of improvisation to help people wrestle with difficult ideas, navigate change, and see the humanity in one another.

Over the years, they’ve created hundreds of performances and workshops that highlight the people behind the policies, the tensions beneath the talking points, and the possibilities in perspectives that don’t always align. Their shows are unscripted, but their intent is clear: to create spaces where people can be both thoughtful and playful, informed and surprised.

And they don’t just entertain—they help people think differently. Their most successful engagements are the ones where participants walk away with both a fresh perspective and practical tools. With over 800 shows, trainings, and speaking engagements under our belt, we’ve proven that comedy and complexity aren’t opposites—they’re allies. Let them help your team find the joy in growth and the momentum in the moment.

Danger Boat & Ira Byock

MNHPC is thrilled to welcome Danger Boat Productions — a nationally recognized company known for blending meaningful conversations with live, unscripted comedy.

Across the country, they’ve brought people together through performances that are smart, surprising, and built entirely in the moment.

In this flagship show, they'll start with a live interview with Ira Byock, diving into topics from his morning keynote. Then, their team of improvisers will take that conversation and transform it into a series of spontaneous, hilarious scenes — showing us the lighter, more human side of even the most serious topics.

Every performance is unique, made just for the people in the room.

Danger Boat's Theater of Public Policy

The Theater of Public Policy reimagines how we engage with complex ideas through the art of improvisation. Each performance begins with a live interview with a guest expert, unpacking important issues in public life — from policy and politics to culture and community challenges. Our cast of improvisers then takes the conversation and spins it into unscripted scenes, exploring the ideas with humor, humanity, and fresh perspective.

Audiences leave entertained, enlightened, and energized, seeing topics they might have once found intimidating or dry through an entirely new lens. By blending thoughtful dialogue with spontaneous theater, The Theater of Public Policy offers a dynamic, welcoming space where curiosity, creativity, and civic engagement meet.
